when a alcoholic stops drinking it will take a while for the side effects to go away

NOTICE: By the time you have noticed this notice, you will have noticed that this notice is not worth noticing.

If they're shaking, I'd be concerned about the onset of DT's; if the shaking has been going on for more than 72+ hours, and there are no signs of DT's (hallucinations,  convulsions), the shaking can go on for about a week after stopping alcohol intake.
