The Out Come

My husband will be out of jail in three weeks. I don't know what to expect when he comes back. As a result of drinking he has torn our family a part. I have gone past the empty words, broken promises and excuse for later when later never comes. How will I know he will stop drinking now? How do I cope with what I am going through as a result of drinking on his behalf?

Wink  Headphones: you can listen to music you like or keep other noise out.

You can cope or choose not to. You have the right to make your own choices on what boundaries you choose to set or not set. I'll bet they have support groups - if you ask at the jail he is getting out of and they don't have them then there is Al-anon.

I have been through this myself.  I chose not to allow him to come home, and began divorce proceedings.  He tried, but I stood my ground.  I did allow him to see the children and spend time with them, but he did not come home and resume his role as husband and father in the way he was previously.  I am extremely happy I followed my gut, because he ended up back in jail.
