I don't think that you should be responsible for helping this person, your help should come in the form of getting help for this person, for getting this person into rehab. Individuals can only help so much, and usually it's not effective. Get this person into rehab in order to get the help they need. Good luck.

Headphones: you can listen to music you like or keep other noise out.

You could point out to the person that there is a problem and then they have to help themselves - the help you speak of needs to go to the children that are being terrorized. Children count on adults to take care of them because they can't do it themselves.
