Do you have health insurance? I do not have a problem with alcohol, so I am not 100% sure on this, but I THINK I remember that there is some sort of a pill that is available now that makes you ill if you drink while taking it.

It's not supposed to be a cure for alcoholism, but is supposed to be helpful if used in conjunction with other support (like A.A. and the DESIRE to quit).

So maybe you could look into that? I am sorry you don't have a support network you can count on, my best suggestion is to start by TRYING A.A. because even a little bit of help is better than none, at least to begin with.

You've got to start somewhere!

Good luck, and we'll all be pulling for you.

I appreciate your response. I would encourage you to some specific things: Most important is your relationship with Christ. If you cannot ever recall a time when you specifcally repented of your sin, and dedicated your life to Christ, then that is the most important thing you can do. If you know someone that you trust, and that you believe is a true Christian, ask them to help you with this. If not, then let me know what city you live in, and I will find a church and a Pastor that can help you. That is your next step anyway. You need support and resources you can get thru a church that preaches the entire Word of God. Not just any church will do, because the true Gospel is not preached today in many places, and it is the true Gospel that has the power to help you. If you have a Bible, then start reading it daily, and if not then get one. The New Living Translation is written in contemporary English, and is easy to understand. Start reading the Gospel of John, a little each day. Lastly, pray. You dont have to pray in a formal way, just talk to God like your talking to a friend. Ask specifically for what you need. If you do what i'm advising, then you will see God move in your life in a way that you have not seen before, and you will know it.

Hi, it's great that you want to quit drinking. You should go to AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) for help. There you will find many people with the same problems as you who will be kind and helpful. As soon as you stop you will feel healthier and will be on the road to spending a nice long life with your son. Good luck!

PS Find AA in the phone book. There will be many meetings near you.

you could ask somebody in your house to hide to alcohol for a couple weeks and see what happens to your liver

If you stop drinking your liver will rebuild itself if it´s not too damaged. Needs at least 1/3 of good cells to be able to rebuild. You will feel a difference within a few months.

Good luck
