Airbags Draining Power?

I have an 97 Mercury Tracer that was invo;ved in a minor accident. The airbags deployed, and I was wondering if that would draw power from the battery afterwards. Thanks

The lowest servant in Heaven is still in Heaven.

Whoever rules in hell is still in hell, but they won't rule for long.

Airbags are explosive devices. The explosives used vary by application, but most US cars with airbags use synergized lead azide. Once detonated, the fusible link breaks the circuit.

However, you should immediately take your Mercury to the local dealership to have the explosive cartridges replaced and the system re-activated.

i believe  air bag must be repacked & computer reset   but that shoulden't drain power  just  put a code to the computer  & make the  air bag light  come on .

a power drain  not sure ??? you'll have to get a mechanic to scan it  that should tell you what the issue is .

hope i helped

This will not drain the battery and I saw another replied to have the air bag repacked this is not done they cannto be repacked, it must be replaced on your vehicle you probally only need the air bag replaced on newer models you must change the airbag module and seatbelts on your vehicle probally not. by the way check ebay or google air bags you can buy a used bag on ebay for under 100 dollars as low as 15 or 20 thank you dave I hope this helped
