We are hearing popping and crackling sounds from our unit outside and smelt an electrical smell. What could this be. When we turned off the unit, it stopped making the sound.

The AC is on automatically, but only hot air is coming out. The outside compressor doesn't work. Please let us know what maybe a problem. Thanks
