Affects of different alcohols.

Does anyone know if the specific alcohol that a person drinks has different affects on the person and their attitudes and behaviors. Specifically, my girlfriend once told me that "drinking vodka really messes me up..." and it seems to me that she is angrier and more hostile when drinking vodka than when drinking rum or beer. Is this just a self-fulfilling myth, or can the chemical nature of the alcohol consumed make a difference?

Great question Peter!! I definitely notice that different alcohols have different affects on different people. For example, whenever I drink tequila I get crazy and sometimes throw up and black out, but my best friend is absolutely fine. Drinking vodka is no problem for me but I know others whose systems can't handle it. It is similar with different foods, like when someone is lactose intolerant and another person can eat dairy for every meal.

Different alcoholic beverages have different strength (percent of alcohol) in the drink. Vodka and rum are much stronger than beer. Some beverages disguise the alcohol content, so that you are not aware how much alcohol you are really drinking. Alcoholic soft drinks are known to do this.

yes, definitely. I used to get very depressed the day after a heavy night and even get insomnia. None of my freinds seemed to get the symptoms to the same extent. Thats just an example on how alcohol affected me. For others it can be how they react while they drink.
