Lets sayyou have tried everything  else, and yet  you have failed to conceive. Adoption is your only option. Would you adopt a handicapped child (blind, deaf etc..)?

Why only one choice; that of adopting a handicapped child. Since  you have not yet been able to conceive, does that type of adoption reflect how you see yourself? Adoption is an excellent alternative and will allow you to give love to a child and make you and your husband lead fuller and more meaningful lives.

Fertility Stories - infertility experiences of people like you.

Probably yes. I think I would find mental retardation much more difficult to live with than physical handicaps. It also depends what kind of quality of life I believed the child could have. The more I believed the child could eventually live a rewarding, independent life, the more likely I would be willing to adopt.
