I was watching something on tv and a comment was made about Adolf Hitler having had a dog. Is this accurate? If so, was his dog's name Blondie?

He did have a dog and her name was Blondie. It's rumored that he killed his dog right before he killed himself. He was a very sick crazy man.
Hitler had several German Shepherds. He killed them the day he committed suicide. Was that an act of kindness? Or maybe he feared the dogs would grow hungry and munch on his body and Eva Braun's.
