A:

You husband sounds like he has a gambling addiction.  Addicts will sacrifice anything for the next high.  In this case, your husband is a lousy investor.  He's playing the stock market like he has a "system" that can't lose, in the long run.  Unfortunately, there's no such thing as a foolproof system, and in the short run, you can lose everything.  If you're Donald Trump, you can bounce back from a severe loss by pulling in assets from your winners to compensate. The T's casino went bankrupt, but his real estate empire saved his hide.  In your case, whatever debts your husband incurs will probably be your debt too, particularly in a community property state.  It's not a "stay at home" job if you don't earn anything for your efforts. It's one thing to make a living at day trading, but when he's lost mucho needed bucks dabbling in an area where he has little success, it's time to wise up.  I have to assume that you are accurate when you say he doesn't care what you think.  Time to seek family counseling.  There are issues in your relationship that go beyond money.
