A:

Just read a book called the Clear Skin Diet. In it, the authors found some studies that show certain nutrients play a significant role in reducing acne.

For example, in one instance, the authors found a study in which a combination of fish oil and Gamma-linoleic acid prevented acne causing hormones as well as a prescription called Zileuton.

In another instance found in the book, it stated that:

"A synergistic combination of vitamins A and E was employed with a high degree of success that it eliminated the necessity of antibiotic"

Interesting stuff. Actually what got me looking into this is a website I stumbled across:

www.clearskinsecret.com

I found it thought-provoking and made me go out and find out as much as I can about nutrition and the relationship to acne... and I have some suspicion it might be the authors who are promoting this!

After reading that site, then buying the book, I've come to the conclusion that some nutrients and vitamins can actually help your acne, while others like Iodine may (or may not) cause more acne.

Some other vitamins found to be effective against acne are:

-Chromium
-Selenium
-Zinc
-Vitamin B
-Probiotics
-Natural anti-oxidants

I've found that after eating these vitamins consistently while eating a balanced, dairy-free, sugar-free diet my acne significantly improved. That's just me - I hope it will help for you.

Hope this helps.
