I don’t understand why an Aegis equipped destroyer would be unable to destroy this terminal homing land based ballistic missile. If we can intercept TBMs (Tactical Ballistic Missiles) using SM3 why can’t we do so here? Is the speed of the DF 21 the factor or is it trajectory, or is there a maneuvering component to the guided DF 21 that would allow it to side step an ascending SM3? Where is the gap in our defenses?
