AOL Channel Window?

Hello All!

I am using an AOL dialup connection and browser [9.0 Optimized]. When the browser software runs and you finaly get a connection established, a Welcome screen opens with all the advertising and BS. I always close it asap and as soon as it minimizes another Window pops up, AOL Channels [AOL C...] and once agian it holds nothing of intrest so I close it too. No big deal. Only thing is when I close the Welcome screen, it will usually pop back up at least four or five times. After it finally gives up an stays down, another useless window pops up in the upper left corrner of the broswer window and all it displays on top is [AOL C...] After searching everywhere but AOL for info. I found out it can be called various things [AOL Channels, AOL Channel Window, ect.] to escape popup blocking software they change the name from time to time and you cannot see what it is because the window is so narrow that it does not have enough room to show, it only shows [AOL C...]. It also takes four or five attempts to get it to stay down. You can click on the X and in a few seconds it will pop back up.

Is there a way to disable it? AOL customer support does not even know what the Channel Window is. It shows up very rarely in any help pages.

Thanks Alot for any help;

Mikey

To get it to not show up when you log on, first close the AOL Channel by clicking on the X in upper right corner of AOL Channel window.  Then on the menu bar, click the Window option, then click Remember Window Size and Position.  That should do it.   Mal

1.      Turn the pop up blocker on by clicking the pop up blocker icon in the AOL Toolbar. Then click "Turn pop up controls off." The icon will display a red circle with a slash over a white window icon and will show you the number of pop ups blocked.

2.      Allowing pop ups from specific websites can be accomplished by clicking on the pop up blocker icon and selecting "Allow Pop Up from" and entering the name of the website. The icon will display a green light over a yellow window, indicating that pop ups from the website are allowed.

3.      Block pop ups from a specific website by clicking on the pop up blocker icon and selecting "Block Pop Ups from," and entering the name of the website. You'll see the red icon and slash indicating that pop ups are being blocked for that website.

4.      Select which pop ups you want to see. Click on the pop up blocker icon, and then select "Set Pop Up Controls Preferences." Select Web pop ups and then "Allow web pop ups from these sites," and enter website addresses for the pop ups you want to allow. Then click "Add" and "Save."
