I have been having the same probelm, I think it's something at AOL...have you tried their customer support? I have, it's not all that great. So for now I have only a blue screen as a wallpaper.

I have re-downloaded AOL 9.1 and it seems to be working for the moment. Time will tell. I agree that AOL support is very bad...if not downright awful!
