I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.

Global Warming – Fact or Fiction?

With all the talk of global warming I am curious to know where you live are you experiencing extreme weather conditions?

Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.

We've had 2 straight days of temperatures near 100 degrees.  But, hey!  It's August!  Too many people are ready to blame every anomaly in the climate on Global Warming.

I'm sure that there is some validity in the concept, but in recent years, everything that happens is somehow assumed to be connected.  I'm reminded of a man who firmly believed that if you killed a snake and hung it in a tree, it would rain within 3 days.  What he never realized was, in this area, it rains about every 3 days anyway, snake or no snake.

The weather has always had patterns.  There are hot years and cool years.  There are stormy seasons and calm seasons.  But, unfortunately, people's memories are very short and selective.  Why do older people swear that the snows were bigger when they were kids?  Because they were smaller; everything seemed big.

Victims of circumstance owe it to fate. Victims of choice owe it to themselves.

I (a TN-an) know some people who live next to me that KNOW that snows were bigger in their youth. Silly Inuit!

If global warming get any worse, then Santa will not leave the North Pole and deliver presents every year. And the Easter Bunny will begin to leave us hard boiled eggs.

I have heard that veterinarians hope that global worming never becomes a reality. It would be a severe financial blow. Speaking of worming, I had a friend that inquired of me what could be worse than finding a worm in the apple one was eating. "Half a worm", I replied.

I pray that others will take this issue as seriously as I do.

Choose to make it a great day, my new Friend!

I have been reading the scientific predictions about global warming since the mid 1960s.  Most of the predictions have come true on schedule, many were fulfilled early, and the most dire ones are just beginning to be seen coming into reality.  Opening of the ozone hole and increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere create atmospheric changes that affect even the jet stream flow and we all know that warmer waters are a major contributor to what increase the intensity of hurricanes. The decreasing ozone protection also lets in more harmful radiation that destroys cellular structure in the very most basic and bottom level/critical level of the food chain...both fed upon and that transforms chemicals into organic "foods" for both plants and animals. The algea that live in the upper zones of the oceans are also affected...negatively, and they are the foundation of the oceanic food chain and hence life forms in the seas and oceans.  This radiation penetrates soils and water to greater depths and has the potential to sterilize the soils, killing the mocrobes that facilitate life as we know it.  Yes, it is real and deadly and largely ignored except for a little media hype. It has the potential to destroy the environment that nourishes life on this planet. Yes, climate is changing and becoming more drastic where I live...hotter in summer and winter or colder...more extreme shifts.

the Atlantic hurricane season, which officially started on 06-01-09, has been extremely quiet this year. Almost record breaking. another two weeks without a tropical storm or hurricane will set a new record for latest first storm in the season. the current record dates from 1977.

it has been consistently above average in temperature(Florida) low to mid 90's with one record high set this summer.

this reminds me a little like crop circles. Real or hoax? many have been shown to be hoaxes but some are so big and intricate they can only be seen from great heights? aliens? that has been going on for twenty some years now.

To say nothing, especially when speaking, is half the art of diplomacy.

We are now experiencing the lowest levels of the Sea of Galilee ever due to the lack of rain for the last 5 years. They have found numerous sunken treasures because of the water being so low. For those of you that have visited Israel, you would be in shock to see how far the water has receded and how much smaller the Dead Sea has gotten.

All it takes is for the weather to become more irregular and we will have enough crop failures to create the biggest famine we have ever seen.

GETTING SET FOR 'COLDEST WINTER'

Late last month, several leading meteorologists warned that this winter could be the coldest of the century. New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, will be among the coldest areas, according to Hurd C. Willett, professor emeritus of meteorology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

He said this winter's temperatures might average eight degrees below normal. Normal winter temperatures in the region vary from seven degrees below freezing in Connecticut to a bit above freezing in southern New York.
