I have a 7 year old son who also thinks school is boring this year. It concerned me because he is so intelligent and I dont want him to write school off at this stage in his life. At this age he should love school. What we did to get him a little more interested is we offered incentives and got the teacher involved too. Every night when he comes home we go outside and play first (we used to do homework first but that made it worse), come inside eat dinner and then do homework together. After he is done with his homework we give him his choice of TV time, GAME time, or READING time (he loves to read) and that makes it worth wild for him during the evening. At school we have his teacher give him extra things to do around the classroom because we found that most of his boredom resulted in the fact that he was completing his work much faster than the other students and had to sit quietly and wait for them to finish which made him resent school because he was not getting challenged. Now the teacher gives him extra assignments, allows him to help other students that are having trouble, or sit at his desk and read. I find it to be much more effective having the teacher help in this as well. Try some of these ideas and good luck ...
