5.6 earthquake in the San Francisco Bay Area

5.6 earthquake in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is the strongest tremor since 1989. Last time over 60 people were killed.

This time they say no serious damage was caused and that they're not expecting any damage.

How can they be so sure?

Is it guaranteed?

Always remember, nothing is guaranteed. Being the earthquake ridden area it is, scientists have a lot of experience with damage assessment in the San Francisco Bay. By comparing data with statistics gathered over the past tens of years they manage to come up with a pretty good guess regarding possible damage caused. Again, you can never be sure but I wouldn't loose sleep over this issue.
