Once in a while you may find a list of the “world’s best books”, I wander are these lists bases on sales or literature professor opinion, because some of them seem pretty boring.
The world's beat books are generally selected by professors of literature and literary critics. Many books are not written for simple enjoyment but to stimulate ideas and thinking. Some indeed are quite boring but once you get into them they can be quite fascinating and leave you with memorable deep emotions describing human relations. For example, I found it hard to get into Tolstoi's War and Peace but once I got past all his discussions on war and international relations, I was left with sad feelings that I was cut off from so many fascinating people when I finished the book.
