What are the 4 basic chords in guitar that can play most songs? I have read that most songs can be played by 4 chords, I would like to know what they are, and where to see and hear these chords.

Also where on internet or youtube can I find all the tab chords for Acousitic Guitar?

Hi Rocket,

Every key has three major chords.  The one chord, the four chord and the five chord. The fourth chord is the 7th of the key you are playing in.

Here is a little trick to identify all of the major chords in every key.

Draw yourself a chart with capital letters A, B, C, D, E, F, G down the left hand column and numbers 1 thru 7 across the top as such:.

Key     1     2     3     4     5    6    7

A         A     B    C#  D    E   F#  G#     Here are the notes in the key of A

Notice the 1 chord or root chord is A, the four

Chord is D. The five chord is E .  These are your

Three major Chords in the key of A.  The other chord is

                                                               A7

B

C          C     D    E     F    G    A   B      Here are the notes in the key of C

The 1 chord is C.  The four chord is F and the five

Chord is G.   The other  chord is C7

D          D    E     F#    G    A    B  C#    Here are the notes in the key of D

The 1 chord is D.  The four chord is G.  The five

Chord is A.  The other chord is D7

E

F

G          G    A     B    C    D    E     F#     Here are the notes in the key of G.  Figure the

Chords out based on the above example.

You can fill in the notes in the other keys and identify all the major chords with the same formula.

Here are a couple of websites for Guitar Tabs.   www..A-Zlyrics.com for most popular songs and  www.cowboylyrics.com for country music.

Hope this helps,  Velcro

WinkThe basic chords to play 1,000's of songs, (which are usually 3, but I'll add one more for you!) are: A, D, C & G. These are pretty simple chords to make. I actually have several guitar gadgets on my iGoogle page. It is the simplest way, (I've found), to find & use ANYTHING all on one page. If you don't have Google Chrome, just go into Google, download it, & make iGoogle your homepage; that's what I did! But, you could probably just key in www.iGoogle.com & simply look at the page & it will show you that you can add gadgets--they come up in squares--I've got at least 35-40 on mine, plus a side list of more that just aren't on the page. Narrow your search to 'Guitar Gadgets' or even Musical, (because believe me, when you see all these gadgets, you're gonna have a lot of fun picking them as you go along later!), & it has AT LEAST 2 chord gadgets which show you the exact placement of your fingers from the neck on, (with these simple chords you won't go any further than the 3rd fret), you can then also download the 'tuning gadget,' so if you have a guitar, you'll always know if it's in tune. If you don't prefer that method, let me know & I'll show you a simple tuning method most guitarists use! This should help#mce_temp_url#

It all depends what type of music you are playing, and whether you are singing, too.  Most folk and country use G, C, and D or D7.  Blues uses E, A, and B, or A, D, and E.  4-chord progressions are used in songs like " The House of the Rising Sun", C, Am, F, and G.  The key in which you sing can determine the key you'd use.  Different keys have different " colours", different tonal qualities; that's why some songs are normally played in a certain key.

Yes, so you just read in most songs.

Yeah, for basic chords just play in most songs. It's always been that way and always very likely will stay that way, too
