47 year old non smoker with lung nodule.

I am a 47 year old non smoking woman who found out during a scan for something else that I have a lung nodule. I am quite worried about this.  My doctor wants me to do a 6 month follow up and then a year after that to see that nothing has changed.  I am almost too nervous to go for the follow-up even though I know this is a ridiculus attitude.  Can you advise?

you can't change anything so you can't worry that is the best thing to do.  If the DR thought it was more he wouldn't have said come back in a year.  A nodule does not mean cancer.

Unfortunately, you do not have to be a smoker to get lung cancer. If I were you I would just remain as calm as possible, and do as your doctor has suggested to you. Play it safe. Should, and I am not saying that you do, it be cancerous, it may have been caught early. Which is generally better. Years ago I had done a lot of research for an assignment, and lung cancer does not mean a 'death sentence,' there are five lobes in each lung. Stay positive. And good luck.
