Why does my 3 year old bite and how can I make him ...

when your 3 year old bites someone bite him/her back. And hard enough for them to cry, but not break the skin. He/she will learn that this hurts the others too and will stop biting.

i don't think you should bite him back. I used to get SOOOOOOOOO mad at my sister I used to bite her but I was probably 8 or 10 or so. My older cousin bit her siblings which is where I got the idea. He is probably frustrated and doesn't know how to handle his feelings. He is old enough now to understand that he hurts others when he bites...try talking to him. Tell the other parents you are sorry and you are trying to get him to stop. Maybe the school teachers have some ideas. I'm sure they've dealt with this problem with other kids in the past. Hey Collinsmom...I have an idea. Give him something that he CAN bite when he wants to bite. My son used to get so mad when he was around 5 I made him go hit his pillow as hard as he could as much as wanted to. Eventually he got tired of that and just learned to control his temper. Now he's 20 and a pretty laid back kid. I think there's something about little boys they need to vent physically. Well, maybe girls do too. I'll think about my daughter later. Maybe Collin could have a pillow or a blanket or something he could carry-with to bite.
