How do you use Yedda? (Meaning more as in “what purpose do you use Yedda?)

How do you use Yedda?  (Meaning more as in “what purpose” do you use Yedda)

This is an open question to everyone and I’m sure there will be varied and interesting answers.  While I do not believe that there will be a comment made on here from the individual that has been the catalyst for this question, that person being exzucuh.  I received a “Private Message” email from this individual concerning a comment I made to a question he had posed on Yedda.  My reply to his email was a specific request that he not do so again.  However, tonight I received yet another “Private Message” email, two actually.  One stating simply that “Private Message” emails were the only way to talk to me and a second one with more ridicule, the date and time stamp showing that they were sent within minutes of each other.

Whether it was or not, I took the email as an attack on my personal viewpoints, basically because of the first line in the email.  The content of that original email I received follows in its entirety:

///Start///  You can say a lot to be absolutely wrong and actually know nothing.

The dead  know nothing about what goes on in this world because they are in hell, Jesus said God is the God of the living because those that serve and him never die they live with him after their bodies die. Mt 5:22,Mt 18:9,Mr 9:43,Mr 9:45,Re 20:14 all these scriptures say you will be in hell fire and the greek word for fire means fire (Pur) In the old testament those people had no understanding of death, hell, or salvation because the truth and mystery of those were not revealed until Jesus preached of them.

How can you know if you have no preacher. Jesus has the keys to death, Hell and the Grave and these three things are synonymous . They are the curse that came upon all because of Adam but the second Adam Jesus paid the debt of Adams sin so that all in Christ will not partake of the curse. Those that are in Jesus do not taste death, death is torment the first stage of hell, it begins even before it happens as men are tormented every day by it in their thoughts. But in Christ we have peace and security knowing we cannot die. Hell is the second part of Death where death and torment becomes reality and the grave becomes a prison that cannot be escaped. Hell is compared to a garbage dump because the fires there are never quenched and the bodies of criminals were left there for the vultures and the worms to eat. For people of that day to see the rotting corpses and and burning and smoke it made them think of hell. ///Stop///

This is my entire response to the above email:

///Start///  For future reference, please do not contact me via the “Private Message” option on Yedda.  If you want to attack my comments, then do so here in an open forum.  I’m not a child and I’m not afraid of you.  I do not condemn nor criticize your beliefs; I am merely a voice which presents a different perspective regarding various religious ideologies.  I have been a formal student of Theology for 30 years, my structured education began in 1978 while attending Austin Community College in Austin, Texas and has been an enduring study ever since.///Stop///

Below are the two emails I received tonight from exzucuh:

///Start///   This is the only way to reply to you. There is no other.  ///Stop///

Here is the second email:

///Start///   The answers you gave reflects a waste of time in your education, as most educated in theology are, I am not afraid to reply to you but you may not know it but being educated as you are you should , you are supposed to answer questions not argue with people at the question site.

1 Corinthians 1:19  For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

1 Corinthians 1:26-27  For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;///Stop///

exzucuh, I will not reply to your email as I specifically requested that you not do so.  While I do not mind emails from those I have agreed to list as a contact, or even a simple friendly email once in awhile from anyone.

I took the time to visit the web site you have listed on your profile.  I also spent a great deal of time viewing your YouTube Pulpit from which you preach.  That's great if that's what you feel you need to do.  I am not critical, but neither am I impressed, you have the right to be who you are and I have the right to be who I am.

I would however like to address the last part of your statement to me.  You stated “you are supposed to answer questions not argue with people at the question site.”

I did not argue with you, I merely presented a different perspective of what you asked in your question entitled “No Hell”.  I won’t post my answer here as it was quite lengthy.  If you don’t like the response you get to a question you “discuss” the difference of opinion or perspective there on the question site.  That’s why they have the “Comments” section of that site.  What you don’t do is contact them privately and insult them.

As far as your own questions, from what I can see (and it is another reason that I have personally made I think only two comments) they are merely platforms by which you preach to others.  Yedda is not a Church Pulpit.

Regarding the comment in your original email… “How can you know if you have no preacher?”  No disrespect intended, but I am not illiterate, I do not need you to explain your perspective (or interpretation) to me. While I sincerely enjoy a good open discussion, I thoroughly enjoy doing the research myself thank you.

I am not here (on this Earth or Yedda) to judge anyone for anything, in this case their religion or spirituality.  Personally I don’t care what a person’s religion is, I have often stated that I was just glad that a person had a religion.  By the same token I am not here for the purpose of preaching my specific religion or spirituality to anyone else.

Personally I would say that I am at about 50/50 on agree and disagree with those I have dealt with here on Yedda.  However, it does not mean that I believe those I disagree with to be wrong in their opinion or perspective of the question, their answer or comments to my answers.  The greater majority of them are at least basically polite.  I enjoy reading most of the questions and comments, being here on Yedda for the purpose of learning new things through open (minded)discussion.

In conclusion, if you are a preacher, maybe you should go back to school and learn a little bit about tact.

For me, Yedda is a tool.

It's relatively fun, it occupies my brain (and a lot of my time) and I've made a few friends.

I don't play in the political or religious questions, so I rarely encounter the zealots or the fanatics, although I have encountered people with whom I agree to disagree.

Generally, I find Yedda's members to be pleasant as well as sane. Well, mostly sane.

If this person persists in sending unwanted messages to you, I would copy the messages and your responses asking that s/he desist; then send them directly to Yedda staff and ask that they handle the matter by taking whatever steps may be necessary to stop him or her.

Best of luck,

jkgrandma

Dear Avaloyuru,

Wow. I'm sorry that you have/had to deal with this. Sounds to me like you're getting picked on, and that's just not fair. We all have our own personal opinions, ideas, viewpoints etc. I try to read some of the religious questions, but I find myself getting lost, as they are quite long and, well...complicated,and it's hard when you are just a simple person. It definitely does sound like you're being attacked, not only by email, but in the comment section as well. Again, that's just not fair. Is there anything that you can do about this, because I for one would like to know.

    I wish you well

Jkgrandma, I also look at Yedda as a tool as I am constantly researching something either of personal interest or for school.  I’ve enjoyed being here on Yedda as well as 99% of the people I’ve met on here.  While I have participated in different questions in both categories of Politics and Religion, I do try to be choosey which ones I answer as well as the way I present my comment.  Pretty much like my original post to this persons question on “No Hell”.  The comment I posted was merely a section from a Thesis I did a number of years ago for one of my Theology classes.  I opened the comment with “This concept has been disputed…”  I didn’t at that time or to my recollection any other time open a comment by stating “You’re wrong…” or any variation thereof.

I did let a bit of my sarcasm show during a discussion about Health Care Reform.  However, I did not stoop to the level of being out right rude to them as they were to me.  You are right, those two topics tend to generate both the zealots as well as fanatics.  I like to read the questions though.  There have more times however that while I really wanted to say something, I chose not to because I knew it would cause problems and not really make a difference anyway.

I’ve actually started taking a moment to see who is “watching” the question before I answer or comment for the exact same reason that in that I’m not really into arguing with people.

Pa’s girl, thanks for your concern but it’s okay, really.  I posted this question out here in an open forum simply to see what kind of feed back I would get because as I told jkgrandma, I really do enjoy my association with Yedda.  I’ve had far more good experiences than bad.  Yes, people do “attack” others on this forum as well as others, it’s just the way it is.

However, this is not going to make me give up on Yedda or the other forums I use on the internet.  I don’t scare that easily, even face to face much less when reading words posted on a discussion board.

My biggest problem is that I have this awful habit of playing what is called “Devil’s Advocate” in a lot of situations.  I sometimes answer questions or make comments in areas where I feel that a person or group of persons is being “picked on” to put it mildly.  By doing so I tend to draw their fire toward myself, but again that’s okay with me.  It’s another reason my posts tend to be a bit lengthy unfortunately because I try to explain my position from sources other than just what comes from inside me.  Because I think that life experiences are one of the biggest factors in why people feel the way they do about a given subject.  Which is the main reason that I do not simply assume that someone is wrong in their answer, they see it the way they do because of many factors such as geographical and personal experience in that particular subject.

I agree that some of the religious “questions” can be more than quite lengthy.  Personally there are too many “Preachers” who can’t afford to build (buy or rent) their own “brick and mortar” churches, so they use the internet to preach their own philosophies and ideologies.  Which fine as it's their right to do so.  While I can only answer these questions based on my own concepts, I do try not to get “up on a soap box” and preach my personal discipline to others.

As far as being able to do something about this particular situation (and I suppose any other), yes there is a means of dealing with problems on Yedda.  It’s called the “Feedback” option which is located on your home page of Yedda, right up there in the top right hand corner beside your “My Settings” option.  If you ever have problems with anyone on Yedda or even Yedda itself, don’t hesitate to contact them for advice on how to handle a situation.

Take care! Laughing

Why do I use Yedda? First of all, I enjoy answering questions.

Secondly, because of wisdom I've gained in life and lots of hard experience and education, I'm able to help and advise people in my areas of knowledge. This is important to me. I'm disabled and not able to contribute to charities, and this is my way of helping people and trying top help them make their lives better the best way I can.

Thirdly, when I was a psychologist, I was constrained in what I could say to people. On yedda if I want to tell someone their boyfriend is a moron, I can and to hell with what anyone thinks. I admit I am at times a cranky old fart. But I've earned it.

MY FUR BABIES MAX AND SHILOHWink

God did not give me the spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind.  11Timothy 1:7

I like Yedda for several reasons, there are many people on here who have an array of ideas and knowledge, and I can learn from their postings.  There are some if you hit them in the head with a brick bat they would never accept what others are saying.  I have at times become a bit annoyed and it showed in my responses, however, I have decided it is not worth the trouble to argue with anyone on here.  I have my own political and religeous beliefs and if others don't agree with me, so be it...I will still have my own beliefs when the other shoe falls.

I decided it is best to allow others the opportunity to voice their opinions and simply not comment if it differs to the extreme from my own.  I do find that some on here do not believe in God, and because I am a Christian it is my duty to tell them about Jesus.  If they want to continue argueing, then I have made the choice to back out.  I have argued with some on here, and I am sorry for that.  From here on out no more arguements from me.  I have been attacked, called stupid, among other names, and I will ignore it from this day on.

Yedda is a good site where we can all teach each other and learn from one another.  I will not be a part of destroying the goodness about it.

Honestly it gives a little meaning to my life and I love to be a little help to those who ask the questions. I give a little and I get back a bit more. I'm not well enought to do a lot but I can still use this old PC and type (with many errors I might add) since my fingers are a bit numb as are my feet.  I just make the corrections and go on.  Blessing on anyone I may be able to help.
