We loved our 98 Lincoln Towncar and recently bought used 03 Lincoln Towncar. Unfortunately, we did not realize, until we had bought it, that the "adjustable brake and gas pedals" not only do not adjust to a position that works for us, but that they are completely in different spots and positions than the 98. The gas pedal comes down from the bottom of the dashboard, rather than from the floor boards. It sticks out too far, and makes my leg in an odd position, causing cramping and pain when driving more than a few miles especially. The brake pedal is also located slightly differently and closer to the gas pedal, therefore making it easier to (possibly) hit the wrong pedal. Another thing is that the seat back does not tilt by the manual adj that should be on the left near the bottom so that you can recline (nearly) if traveling and want to lie back for a nap in the rest stop. The front seat itself is nearly two inches narrower from front to back, making it much less comfortable for a long legged person. We are sorry that we bought this car and are wondering if we can have some changes made at our local dealership or elsewhere to revert it to the seat and gas/brake pedals of the 98 Lincoln? Please help. Thank you.
