1999 vw jetta check engine light came on while just driving on highway

my 99 jetta check engine light came on just when i filled the gas tank up could it be the gas cap or the o2 sensor it was running great and i filled the gas tank and pulled out of the station and about 2 minutes later the check engine light came on what can it be any suggestions or help please.worried
