Chairs, Bill Ford of Ford Motors, and Andrew Liveris of Dow Chemicals are collaborating to organize a summit to tackle the concerns of the manufacturing, technology, environmental, and energy sectors. The meeting is response to the meeting of the Detroit Economic Club, where industry leaders voiced a need for action to stop the economic decline. In efforts to support economic well being, the summit will bring about a crossover from various industries with a common goalthe future. Set for June of 2009, the meeting will be held in Detroit at Ford Field, with $2 million dollars in sponsorship money from 50 organizations funding the event. It is already expected to draw over 5,000 company leaders, in this first of its kind convention. Names like GM, Chrysler, AT&T, Motorola, and IBM have all shown their support for the summit.
