Ron Gerencher

1972 GM charging system

1972 GM ALTERNATOR I have a 1972 Pontiac Grand Prix that I am installing a powermaster 8002 1 wire alternator. What is the purpose of the original 2 wire connector that clips into the alternator? Is it to trip the light on the dash? Can I cut it out of the harness? Thank you.

One wire is for the power to the alternator, the other is a ground wire.

The "Old Alternators" needed to be "Tickled" to "Start Up" where as the new use "Magnets" to do this. Never "Cut" wires, rather Tape them back into the "Loom". U may get stuck in some tiny burg that only has Ur Old Style Alternator to replace the "One Wire Unit" & be very glad U didn't "Cut" anything. John

Also if u just need to borrow a car to finish the game ask u need all r class cars all road cars and all cars but remeber dlc cars are not needed to finish the game . The bottom line with the achievments is that you need all the non-DLC cars in your garage at once
