15 year old babysitter?

Do you think a 15 year old girl is mature enough to babysit a 2 year old boy? Our regular babysitter is on vacation and this girl is our neighbor. I know her a bit and she's a great girl, but I'm not sure she'll be able to handle the situation if something ususual happens.

I wouldn't allow a 15 year old to babysit my toddler, especially if your having second thoughts, which you seem to be.

I agree with visionary. If you are having enough doubts to ask, than you are not as comfortable as you should be.

If you think your 15-year old neighbor is a possible alternative to your regular baby-sitter, try her out. Have her come over for an hour and be a "mommy's helper." She can watch your toddler in the family room while you're in another part of the house. You get to know how competent she is and you'll get to know her better. If that goes well, give her the opportunity to babysit for an hour while you're out running errands. If she works out, now you have a viable backup in case your primary sitter is unavailable again.

Your question invites a generalization. There are 18 year old girls who are immature and would panic if something comes up. Check this girl out for maturity and responsibility ad ask that her mother be available for backup.

Im 14 and babysit all the time.the age isnt a big deal its how responsible she is.if you dont think she would know how to handle a bad situation then no.you woulden`t want to put your child in any possible danger.
