I know that Manhattan was bought for 22 dollars ‘ but how much these 22 dollars worth today – I do not mean the coins themselves but how much was 22 dollars worth ?
According to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manhattan, about $500 - $700 dollars. Comparing currency values across that large a space of time is perilous, though.
