A 13 year old girl commits suicide as a result of myspace hoax..

A 13 year old girl named Megan Meier was the victim of a myspace.com hoax.

An overweight and depressed teen, she became friends with a young 16-year-old boy named "Josh".

After befriending "Josh," Josh became mean and began sending nasty messages. As a result of breaking her heart, Megan hung herself. Only after months of grieving have the parents found out that parents of an ex-friend of Megan's were behind the hoax and there was no "Josh."

Neighbors were supposedly "trying to teach teen a lesson." Police say no criminal charges will be filed because there is no proof that this is what caused the suicide.

What do you think? There needs to be accountability, no? Do you think it's absurd that Megan's parents cannot press criminal charges? This family that "tried to teach teen lesson" pretended for sometime to be sorry for the Meier family and sent condolences. What is wrong with people that they can do such a horrible thing?

I think it is disgusting.  These people should be charged, at the very least, with stalking.  Maybe even some kind of predator violation.  It's is unbelievable what people will do to each other and then justify it to themselves.

I believe there should be accountability through criminal charges but the only criminal charges that would support this this situation is harrassment charges which are misdomeanors.  Soliciting a child online has mostly to do with that of a sexual nature.  Until lawmakers can make laws to further protect children from adults and problems of this nature I think the family should at least seek civil liability in the sum of.....O' I dont know....... everything they have or every even think of having.  Also, the family who mentally tortured their daughter is now pursuing charges against them for destroying a gaming table that they had stored for their "neighbor friends".  I wish there was a swifter justice, at least for the family's sake.

NO CRIMINAL CHARGES !!  What kind of people do things like this? I think it is SICK . And I DO NOT like violence but I would kick their a$$ all over my neighborhood . Just for the thought of what they did this child. I think their child should be removed from their home. They are a danger to her as well. May that beautiful child  rest in peace. God knows the truth and no crime will go unpunished. To the family of this young lady . My heart goes out to you and my thoughts and prayers are with you .  There should be a way that these idiots should have to pay for what they did . THESE (ADULTS) IF YOU WANT TO CALL THEM THAT

Knew what they were doing.

First and formost, why didn't the parents know that she was on myspace, second why didn't the parents see the signs.  Third the neighbors should be charged with something, I don't know what, but what gave them the right to do that to a young girl, who was depressed already looking on the internet for someone.  Instead of "teaching her a lesson why didn't they really befriend her or let the parents know what was going on with the girl since they knew she was on myspace.  It is in no way myspace's problem or responsibitie, the parents should have been more attentive to the 13 year old and the neighbors should have minded their own business.
