How can i use my 120 gig xbox 360 hard drive as an external drive for my comp? I'm starting to run low on memory and need the room. I still have the transfer cable if that helps.
Edit : No i know i can do that im not an idiot, I need to hook the drive directly to my comp so i can put FILES on it.
A good ole country boy
Assuming that you have a PC, you can download Windows Media Center and connect wirelessly to your 360. You can share music, movies, pictures and presumably use it as a back up drive.
If you have a Mac, Connect 360 will do the same thing.
I hope this helps.
i have tryed to do what you describe once i bought the 360's 120 gb hard drive i tryed to connect it to the pc but it automatically installed a driver. This driver comes up as the device working and that its a samsung hard drive. However the hardware does not appear in "my computer" so a program is required to access the files and im having trouble locating such a program.
While the 120G drive is attached to the 360 the 360 can read the PC's drives but the PC cannot read the 360.
The only way is to Remove the Drive from its casing & connect it directly to the PC's SATA connection or place it inside a USB external case. You will then need to completely format it (wipeing all 360 data). Once its connected to the PC it can't be used by your 360.
Cheapest & easiest way is to buy a new Hard drive for your PC (500Gb will cost around £50/$45)
(Note that when you want more 360 Drive space Buy a 2.5" drive, format it on your PC & insert it inside an old 360 drive case. Then use the BackUp cable that comes with the 120Gb drive you have to back up your files to the new drive.) I currently have a 320Gb in my 360 & it only cost me £36
"I currently have a 320Gb in my 360 & it only cost me £36"
what a lie!!!! you cant use more than a 120 gig drive on the 360 till M$ release there 250 gig drive and even then you cant use a hard drive thats bigger than 250!
