I am retired from the Trucking Industry of NY/NJ area. I had worked in the Industry since I was 17 years old. I bought my first truck on my 18th birthday and started my 1st.company. I built that company from a local delivery service to a Long Haul,Coast to Coast over the road Company At Age 23 I had grown the company to 12 Tractor Trailers and the accounts to constantly keep them moving.I sold that company for a substancial Profit in 1981 due to my childs illness and the need to be home more and needed to change climates, we decided on Florida.Do to the lack of Trucking Industry jobs available, I then moved into Operation Management for a furniture company which grew into a job in Sales.I Started selling Furniture which I enjoyed. I soon became the Store Manager.By increasing Sales and Profitability we were able to open two more stores in the Tampa Bay and Naples markets. They quickly became as we saved people the long drives to our then Very Reputable store and increased sales by making our Brand available in thier markets.Another Illness and the healing of my childs health brought me back North again to the Upsate Ny area.I was Hired By a Large Furniture Chain while searching for my first passion the Transportation Industry.We were again sucessful, Saving the store I was hired to save or shutdown due to poor sales numbers, we revived that store and preceeded to open up several more store in the PA. area swiftly moving throughout the Mid-Atlanctic Coast.That Company is the largest family owned furniture chain in the country now,Im sure if you've purchased furniture in the past 10 years you've been in one of them, Im very proud to say.Although I excelled in Both fields my heart was in trucks so I found a great Job at another Family owned Company, a food distribution Company. I hired on and worked there until my retirement. They too were just a Mid-Atlantic based operation that streched to upper New England. They now run Trucks and distribute food throughout all 48 states to Resturants and Diners,Ice cream stores and Fast Food resturants everywhere. If you Eat! You been served by The Company with the Big Red M on the front of the Home Office in Conklin NY. Its a Company with a great story and will have, and does have a great legacy. I was proud to be part of it.
